Jim McDaniel
Nickname: Aces, JWB
Top SPT Accomplishment: Finishing second in 2004 Super Bowl tourney.
"Aces" McDaniel, as he is known to call himself, has established himself as a solid player on the SPT, but his first
victory has so far been beyond his grasp. While he has had success in Boomtown and Lucky Derby tourneys with top 3 money finishes,
he hasn't won there yet either. The fans of the SPT are known to chant "JWB, JWB" at times, but one has to wonder when the
time will come for a victory for Aces?
Mark Holmes
Nickname: Boomtown, Mobile, High-Value
Top SPT Accomplishment: Winning the 2004 Super Bowl and Derby Day major tournaments back to back.
The current green jacket holder, Mark Holmes has established himself as one of the top players on the SPT. His aggressive,
some say reckless, betting has caused many players to be flustered. Even his famous "I'm all-in without looking at my cards"
routine has been known to get players to call with marginal hands. Holmes showed that his game is more than just aggression,
however, during the Derby Day tournament, making a difficult laydown with pocket queens.
Limit hold-'em remains a tougher game for Holmes, as his frequent raises aren't as effective. However, Holmes has proven
that he's a top no limit SPT player.
Kevin Bristow
Nickanme: Bombers
Top SPT Accomplishment: Two victories including the 2003 Super Bowl major.
While Bristow has shown success on the SPT, including two victories and multiple other money finishes, the real entertainment
comes from the outbursts on bad beats. Bristow has been known to kick chairs or throw objects after a particularly bad beat.
He has also been known to point out the folly of calling in certain situations. One such situation was Gilbert's call of a
pre-flop raise with K-3 suited, only to flop a flush. The result was not pretty, but the hand will forever be known as a Gilbert.
Sean MacLean
Nickname: Tongs
Top SPT Accomplishment: Winner of 2004 McDaniels World Series of Poker, Second place in the 2003 World Series of Poker.
Sean MacLean is a newer member of the SPT with his recent move to Folsom. However, he has played as a guest in a number
of previous tournaments. Known more for his constant chatter and smack talk than his strong play, he nonetheless has shown
some success on the SPT. Not afraid to go in with mediocre hands, he assumes that luck will be on his side. More of a gambler
than most, he still can put pressure on people with his raises.
Eric Stamp
Nickname: None
Top SPT Accomplishment: Many top 5 finishes. Third at the 2003 Man Day Invitational.
Stamp is known as a very solid SPT player, who is fairly consistently at the final table. However, capturing the title
has been elusive for him. A somewhat conservative player, he will gamble it up at points, but the luck never seems to be on
his side in coin flips. Perhaps it's just a matter of time before things come together.
Barry Bonillo
Nickname: OU
Top SPT Accomplishment: Second in the 2003 Super Bowl major.
While Bonillo had success in the 2003 season of the SPT, the 2004 one has been a tougher year. Regardless of his success,
however, the confidence and smack talk continues to be unending. Even when an underdog in a hand and not pulling a needed
card, he berates the other player. The smack has gotten in many players heads, most notably Gilbert who has asked for a table
change, only to be denied. One of the most entertaining members of the SPT, Bonillo has been referred to as a wrestling villian
- loud mouthed and cocky, yet dangerous.
Tim Waisner
Nickname: Waiz
Top SPT Accomplishment: 2005 Win, 5 2005 Top 5 finishes
Tim "Waiz" Waisner has established himself as one of the top SPT performers with an outstanding 2005 season. He finished
second in the Super Bowl major, but followed that up with a win and cashes in both of the other majors. Waiz looks to become
the first player to cash in all 4 majors in the same year.
A solid player, Waiz will also slowplay opponents and hit them with hands when they're least expected. While not
as flashy as other members of the tour, he gets the job done as well as any of them.
