Sanjit wins 3rd SPT event
Star studded final 5
Sanjit Singh won his 3rd SPT event on Saturday, beating a final 5 that boasted 82 combined points finishes.
This was a smaller tournament than normal, with only 12 players showing up at Dave's. Play quickly got down to the
final table:
Sanjit 2,250
Travis 4,875
Dave G. 3,550
Jim 2,875
Greg 3,400
Kevin 4,600
Waiz 8,550
Gooz 4,650
Stamp 1,250
Stamp was the first out, as his J-J ran into Greg's Q-Q, which flopped a set. Travis, Dave and Gooz were out shortly
after that, getting us down to 5. However, only 4 got paid.
Waiz was loosing chips and got down to 2,000. He called an all-in with J-9 vs. Kevin's Q-Q. Both players made a flush,
but the queen high flush put Waiz out in 5th. It was his 3rd points finish this year, and 20th of his career.
Greg Buhler was out next, as he was short stacked and pushed in with A-J. Sanjit called with 6-3. The 4-5-J flop looked
good for Greg. The J on the turn looked even better. But the 2 on the river ended it for him, as Sanjit hit his straight.
Greg won $33 and 83 points in his 14th career points finish.
The money was even at this point, and it was raise-it and take-it poker for a few rounds. Then Kevin raised with A-K
in the small blind, Sanjit re-raised with Q-Q from the big blind, and Kevin moved all-in. Sanjit called, and the queens held
up. Kevin won $53 and 110 points in his 25th career points finish.
Heads up, Sanjit had a lead over Jim. However, Jim won a bunch of a chips in a hurry with raises on flops. Once he flopped
a straight, and the other two pair (with the hammer!).
The action got heavy when Sanjit raised with A-A, and Jim called with K-5. The K-Q-5 got all their money in, with Jim
ahead with two pair. However, the Q on the turn gave Sanjit a higher two pair, and the Q on the river gave him a higher full
house.
Down to 10,000, Jim got all-in on the next hand with K-Q. However, Sanjit woke up with Q-Q again. The queens held,
and Sanjit had won.
Jim won $77 and 155 points in his 15th career points finish.
Sanjit won $105 and 256 points in his 8th career
points finish.
The next event will be the second major of the 2007 SPT season, on April 28th at Jim's house. There will be a preliminary
Crazy Pineapple event, and then the major. Make sure to clear your calendars now!
