Harbaugh, Singh win first SPT titles
Man Day 7 results
The 7th annual Man Day invitational was held on Saturday, and saw the first SPT victories for Steve Harbaugh
and Sanijt Singh. It was the 5th consecutive tournament to have a first ever SPT win, and brought the players who have an
SPT win to 23 (sadly, Stamp is not among them).
In the first event, Crazy Pineapple, Harbaugh ran though the field, ending with 8 kills of the 13 starting players. Results:
1st Steve Harbaugh, $108 and 271 points
2nd Tim Waisner $78 and 165 points
3rd Jim McDaniel $52 and 118 points
4th Sanjit Singh $30 and 90 points
5th Greg Buhler $23 and 71 points
The main event started with 16 players. The total prize pool ended at $730. Play moved down to the final table, and got
down to the final 6 at a decent speed. At 6 handed, Fukui and Buhler were both short stacked. Sanjit raised (with pocket sevens).
Fukui noted that Buhler would be all-in on his big blind on the next hand and folded pocket queens. Perhaps a questionable
play, but Buhler did go out as the bubble boy. Fukui was quickly next to go, and earned $53 and 89 points for 5th place. The
points were enough to likely earn a spot in the TOC (more below).
Waiz was short stacked as well, and went out in 4th when his 10-9 couldn't improve vs. Jim's pocket 7's. Waiz earned $68
and 110 points in his 8th point finish of 2006, likely locking up the player of the year award.
At three handed, Sanjit and McDaniel got all their money in with pocket 6's for Sanjit, and A-Q suited for McDaniel. A
6 was the first card off the deck... but McDaniel hit runner runner for a flush to stay alive on the improbable 4% shot (Sanjit
was a 96% favorite on the flop). Shortly thereafter, Bristow and McDaniel got all the money in with pocket 9's for Bristow,
but pocket Jacks for McDaniel. The Jacks held up, and Bristow was out in third place. He earned $116 and 141 points in his
9th points finish of 2006, and 23rd of his career.
Heads-up, McDaniel started with a large chip lead. However, the fates decided that one time was enough for McDaniel. Sanjit
moved all-in on a J-J-8 flop (2 clubs), holding the K-3 of clubs. McDaniel called with the K-8. However, a flush came on the
river to double up Sanjit. WIth Sanjit now having about 60% of the chips in play, the money went in on the very next hand.
McDaniel raised with A-6, and Sanjit called with A-9. The flop was A-3-7, all diamonds. With each player having a diamond
flush draw (McDaniel with the 6, Sanjit with the 9), they got it all in. However, the best hand held up for Sanjit, and he
took the title. Jim McDaniel won $175 and 193 points in his 4th points finish of 2006 and 13th of his career. Sanjit Singh
won $243 and 310 points in his first SPT win, and 5th point finish of the year.
