Sanjit wins last 2006 SPT event
Edges Bristow for second place in POY Standings, Waiz first
In the last event of the 2006 SPT season, Sanjit Singh won his second consecutive tournament, beating a field of 16 at
Dave's house. The event capped a record setting SPT season, and set the field for the Tournament of Champions.
Sanjit, Narayan and Aleks Campos all took big chip counts into the final table, and two of those would make it to heads
up.
Tim Waisner 3,550
David Finch 1,800
Sanjit Singh 12,000
Ron Fukui 4,450
David Narayan 11,250
Lou DeLaRosa 2,900
Aleks Campos 10,550
Steve Harbaugh 900
Greg Buhler 600
On the first hand of the final table, Lou hit a set to knock out Harbaugh, Buhler and Finch, and pick up some chips.
Waiz was out shortly thereafter, losing to Aleks, and the final 5 was quickly decided.
Narayan lost a ton of chips with A-6 vs. Sanjit's J-J, and was shortly thereafter knocked out in fifth place. He
won $29 and 89 points in his third cash of the SPT season.
Lou was out next, running into Aleks. He won $37 and 110 points in his first career SPT cash - congratulations to Lou!
Ron Fukui had already clinched a TOC spot given the results earlier, and was now looking to pick up chips for that event.
He survived a number of all-ins, but finally fell to Aleks. He won $64 and 141 points in his 6th cash of the 2006 SPT season.
Heads up started with similar chip counts, but Sanjit ground down Aleks, who finally made a stand with a pair of 3's.
Sanjit, however, had a pair of 4's, and it held up. Aleks won $96 and 193 points in his first career SPT cash - congratulations!
Sanjit
won his second consecutive tournament, picking up $133 and 310 points. It was his 6th cash of the 2006 SPT season.
In
the Player of the Year race - Kevin Bristow was the only one who could have overcome Waiz's lead, but lost to Sanjit when
he hit a two outer on the turn. The suck-out from Sanjit gave Waiz the overall Player of the Year. Congratulations to Tim
Waisner for the win - he earns a $100 bonus!
Sanjit then gave Bristow the double whammy on the evening, as he passed Bristow by 6 points for second place in the
POY standings, earning a $50 bonus. If Sanjit's brother hadn't come, the tournament would have been 15, and Sanjit's win wouldn't
have been enough to get him the points to get second place.
The TOC field is set, and the event details will be coming soon! Be sure to look for details on the 2007 SPT season,
as we look to make the SPT bigger than ever!
